Literacy and Numeracy

At our school, we provide a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy to support every child’s learning journey. In the early years, students develop the five critical aspects of literacy, reading, writing, speaking, listening, and phonics, building the skills they need for success. As students progress, they strengthen reading fluency, comprehension, and critical thinking, engaging with rich texts that encourage them to analyse, evaluate, and create, while fostering a lifelong love of reading. In writing, we nurture creativity, expression, and vocabulary development across a variety of contexts, helping students communicate ideas with clarity and confidence.

In numeracy, we focus on explicit instruction of core skills to give students a strong conceptual understanding of numbers, patterns, and numerical relationships. These skills are applied to authentic problems, supporting creativity, fluency, and problem-solving. Students develop confidence in their knowledge of mathematics while learning to enjoy mathematics as a creative and innovative subject. We provide intentional opportunities for skill development and high-quality mathematics tasks, with a strong emphasis on reflecting on understanding and communicating reasoning.

Across both literacy and numeracy, our curriculum is designed to challenge, inspire, and support students to achieve their personal best, laying the foundation for success in learning and life.
