Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. As a parent or carer, you are an important part of our school community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
Our P&C is a group of parents, carers and school community members. They assist with school planning, fundraising, events and volunteering. Our P&C works in partnership with our school to promote the interests of our school community. The P&C meets regularly to contribute to decision-making, developing policies and management plans as well as fundraising.
Formally the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is constituted under The Education Act, 1990. The P&C enables parents and citizens to meet together to determine the needs and aspirations of the school community.
The P&C successfully supports and enriches the quality education of our students through:
-
Promoting the interests of the school by bringing, citizens, pupils and teaching staff into close co-operation.
-
Assisting in provision of equipment required by the school.

P & C Meetings
The P&C meetings provide a forum where parents can develop their partnership with the school and articulate their aspirations for their children's education.
We meet Wednesday of week 3 and week 8 of each term, starting at 7.30pm with the intention of finishing by 9pm. The exact time and date is published in the school newsletter as well as a request for agenda items. All agenda items must be to the secretary no later than the Friday before the meeting date.
Each meeting will include the principal's report as well as reports from sub committees. From time to time there may be guest speakers invited to speak on topics of interest.
The P&C also promotes fundraising activities to assist the school in providing specialist educational programs and equipment for teachers and students. Funds raised by these activities are then donated to the school on a yearly basis at the discretion of the P&C association. The treasurer's report is also provided at each meeting and the final profit and loss statement for each year is tabled at the annual general meeting (AGM). Formal elections for positions on the P&C also take place at the AGM.
Join our P&C
Come along to any meeting during the year. All meetings are open to all parents. The dates will be published in the school newsletter and new faces are always welcome. For parents who are unable to attend, there is a P&C ‘pigeon hole' in the school office where you can contact the secretary or president. Minutes of each meeting are emailed to class representatives to forward onto parents using class information lists and to P&C members who have submitted their email address. A copy is also available in the school office.
Joining the P&C is a great way to meet other families, get involved and contribute to our school's future. We would love to have you on board!
