Our library is dedicated to fostering a love of reading and learning. Our aim is to help equip and empower students as future learners by providing dynamic, relevant, challenging, higher order thinking teaching and learning experiences. Teachers work collaboratively with the teacher librarian to plan, resource and implement teaching and learning programs to support the school’s strategic directions.
The library is well resourced with high quality literature in a variety of genres and formats which is continually updated. Students also have the option to borrow from our eBook and audio book library.
Students will visit the library each week for a scheduled library lesson and are also welcome to attend various activities throughout the week at lunchtimes. These activities include; Lego Club, Chess Club, drawing, reading and playing games.
Throughout the year the library celebrates numerous important literary events. Book Week is an exciting time at our school and is an opportunity to celebrate books, authors and illustrators. The children engage in special events during this week. In the past we have been entertained with notable authors and illustrators and enjoyed theatre productions. Our annual book character parade is highly anticipated where we see a huge diversity of favourite book characters and creative costumes. In recent years we have also had a fundraising book swap event, where we have raised money for charities such as The Indigenous Literacy Foundation and the Footpath Library.
